The title of this programme was inspired by the Spanish taracea (wood inlay), where the objective is to make a large geometric image by setting small geometrical cuts of different coloured woods together, like a mosaic. As with the varying shapes, different woods and contrasting colours in the taracea, our programme is a collection of early and contemporary music; using a wide range of instruments, the complete programme ‘slots together’ – forming a mosaic of motets, fugues, variation forms, corals, concertos and fantasies.
